Hello, world!
Our small team (two humans) has been working on Omnipedia for the past six months, and we’re extremely proud to announce that Omnipedia is now live and available on the App Store!
Omnipedia lets you download the entire textual content of Wikipedia to your iPhone or iPad so that you can read any article without an internet connection. It’s great for those moments when you find yourself without signal – whether you’re out on a hike in the wilderness or in that annoying café that inexplicably has no coverage.
Omnipedia also aims to be a really great way to read Wikipedia in general, with a simple, text-first design that feels at home on iOS, lightning-fast responsiveness, and complete privacy by default.
To make all this possible, we process monthly Wikipedia snapshots and compress all the articles into a compact archive that you download to your device. And to keep the articles up-to-date, we build and release monthly incremental updates that install in minutes.
Omnipedia is free to try and we offer a simple annual subscription for full download access. Check it out in the App Store!
